16th Century Blackwork Embroidery Flower Pattern

I'm playing around with making #shorts on YouTube!

This Elizabethan blackwork embroidered flower pattern is from an English embroidery sampler by Jane Bostocke (at the V&A Museum) from 1598. This particular embroidered flower became part of a pin pillow.

Blackwork embroidery is also known as double-running stitch or Holbein stitch. Historically, it was typically found as silk thread embroidered on white linen in a reversible stitch.
