More Research of Blackwork Embroidery

Again, I am putting this here more for my own reference, but feel free to get curious too about this!

I have submitted an inquiry to the National Museum of American History about an item listed in their collection: Linen Cover with Dark Red Holbein Stitch Embroidery. One problem: there is no picture of this cover.

The cover is described as "Linen cover with dark red Holbein stitch embroidery in geometric patterns. The embroidered borders are seven inches wide at both ends and three and a half inches wide along both sides. It is bordered with the same red color half an inch wide torchon bobbin lace. The center has been replaced. All sewing has been done by hand."

The cover is listed as 16th century and "silk (overall embroidery and lace material), linen (overall fabric material), bobbin lace, torchon (overall lace border production method/technique), embroidery, holbein (embroidery production method/technique)." It's 63 in x 38 in.

Fingers crossed that I receive a response soon, as I'm quite curious about this embroidery piece!
