I'm still very much in the research stages of pouncing. However, one of my first concerns was wouldn't charcoal stain the fabric? Well, only one way to figure this out myself and that's to test it out. 😀
So, since this is only a test, I'm not using materials that I care about. I'm using an old cotton shirt, a piece of charcoal (thanks to my blacksmith husband), and Gutermann silk thread from the local craft store.
Yes. Charcoal will stain. So be light with your charcoal powder.
Poking tiny holes into the pattern
Every time the frame was bumped, the dots became lighter as the powder disappeared.
